On our first day at school we learned a lot about the Maori culture and we learned several beautiful songs in the language. It is so beautiful, even head shoulders, knees and toes is beautiful, I wish you could all hear it. Some of the songs have rakau (tree or stick) dances that go with them. This is us learning one of them. It was really fun, we had to flip the sticks and toss them to our partner in rhythm. Sarah and I were the best at it.
I am currently living in Auckland New Zealand on a study abroad through Brigham Young University. I am taking classes and enjoying the beautiful summer weather. We have a lot of adventures planned and unplanned and this blog will hopefully continue to record all of them. Enjoy. You can also see pictures at http://newzealandgirls2011.shutterfly.com/.
